HEART ATTITUDES:
No one lives out the "life" of Christ in all relationships, at all times. Yet at the core of life at Pierpoint Church we, as Christians are called by God in Matthew 5:13-14 to be salt & light. We are challenged to live redemptively in our relationships to other Christians as well as other people in general. The living out of the "Heart Attitudes " in "interpersonal relationships" enables the flow of Godliness to be demonstrated to one another.

One way to remember these "Heart Attitudes" is:

H- Live an Honest & Open Life
B- Be a Learner

1. Follow Leadership (within Biblical guidelines)
--Hebrews 13:17-18 Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you. Pray for us. We are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way. (NIV)
--Ephesians 4:11-12 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up (NIV)

2. Maintain Right Relationships
--Matthew 5:23-24 "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift. (NIV)
--Proverbs 16:7 When a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD, he makes even his enemies live at peace with him. (NIV)
--Romans 12:18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

3. Looking to Other's Interests (within Scriptural limits)
--Philippians 2:3-4 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. (NIV)
--John 15:12-13 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. (NIV)

4. Make a Difference (with time, money & spiritual gifts)
--1 Peter 4:10-11 Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.(NIV)
--2 Corinthians 9:6-7 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (NIV)

5. Live an Honest & Open Life
--Ephesians 4:25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. (NIV)
--Proverbs 10:6 Blessings accrue on a good and honest life, but the mouth of the wicked is a dark cave of abuse. (Msg)

6. Be a Learner
--Hebrews 3:13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. (NIV)
--Proverbs 10: 17 " Anyone willing to be corrected is on the pathway to life. Anyone refusing has lost his chance. " (LB)

Bringing Truth to Life
One way to begin to incorporate these ideas is to mark passages which amplify them. You may want to share your insight with a Team Leader, Small Group Leader or friend at Pierpoint Church. You may also want to share the times your fellow believers have demonstrated these heart attitudes.
